Buying and selling World coins

Buying coins of the world can be an excellent hobby; you can start with any size budget and soon accumulate an impressive collection of coins. There are many ways to start in your quest for a great coin collection, using the internet can be an excellent resource to research your potential purchases. For a small price coins can be acquired at markets, car boot sales and auction rooms; you might even find a collection that someone is looking to sell which could really kick start your collection. With such a wide range of coins out there to start collecting, you can choose which coins interest you the most. You could have an interest in Celtic coins, Roman Coins; Hammered Medieval Coins, the list is almost endless!

My advice on collecting coins: Start with one denomination for a certain Monarch and collect each issue of that coin. That might not sound much but there could be many different varieties of that particular coin through the reign of that particular Monarch. Do your research and collect coins you can afford to collect, don’t start collecting hammered gold coins unless you have got tens of thousands of pounds to invest in your hobby.

Ever wondered how a hammered coin was produced

Henry VIII Hammered Silver Coins

Deserted medieval villages or maybe the rumour of a skirmish 500 years ago is enough to wet the appetite of any detectorist searching for medieval hammered coins. Either of these sites should unearth many wonderful finds such as hammered coins, buckles, spur rowels and maybe the odd annular brooch or ring!

With a little research it can be relatively easy to find a medieval track way or piece of land which once saw an old windmill stand proud as the hub of the community. Of course then all you need to do is gain permission and wait for that little silver disc (or gold if your lucky enough!) to appear in a lump of mud.

I am always looking for new images of Hammered coins to show on the site, If you have any that you don't mind sharing please contact me.
